We arrive in Guatemala City!

After a long trip of trains, planes and automobiles, Ben, Scott and I (Cassidy) have arrived into Guatemala City. Our journey was long but well worth it. I started in California at about 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning and then flew to New York where I then proceeded to get on a train to Long Island, pick up my car there and then drive to Brooklyn to meet Ben (Cinematographer) where we then organized our gear and raced to Manhattan to pick up our other cinematographer Scott. We then arrived at JFK about half past midnight to catch our plane to Guatemala City. After passing through Honduras and El Salvador we arrived safely into Guatemala City. Upon arrival we gathered our baggage and were met by a nice man named Jared who then drove us to our hostel a few kilometers from the airport.
Guatemala City is a very interesting city. It is a city that is divided into zones and has an array of eclecticism. The city has various levels of poverty and wealth and the people are very warm hearted. We went out last night and had our first meal together in a nice part of the city. The part of the city we were in was similar to pretty much any other major metropolitan city in the World and as we passed a Hooters in the Taxi cab we were reminded that no matter where you go America is always there to make an impression.
Today we spend our last day in Guatemala city getting everything ready before departing on our journey to Tikal with the Mayan spiritual guides. We are very excited and cannot wait to embark on the countryside and make the 11 hour journey to Tikal. We are waiting for Whitney to arrive and hope that she will make it in time for the journey up there. Last I hear from her she was stuck in Charlotte North Carolina and was waiting standby to fly to Costa Rica, so we hope to see her soon. I hope everyone has a great day and wish Whitney luck!
